An Inclination to Seek Freedom

A Gemini is inspired by the energy of youth, which often propels him toward external accomplishments (for example, John Kennedy, the youngest president of the United States).  He "needs breathing space," and must vary his pursuits during a given day.  A Gemini needs an occupation where he can express his desire for mobility: John Kennedy was initially a journalist, and his lifestyle was that of a "sportsman." He wanted to "make the current flow": in a highly symbolic sense, this is what the red telephone between Moscow and Washington represented.  A Gemini is a person who extracts himself from scrapes easily; he improvises and tinkers with situations, like Gerard Philippe, who, in his many roles, always finds a way out of blind alleys.

A Lucid Mind Which Seeks to Resolve Contradictions

A Gemini is inspired and motivated by the many ideas which come to life within his mind.  One idea collides with another, and it is difficult to establish harmony among all of them.  Whereas other persons may be stymied by matters of logic or principle, a Gemini approaches problems as puzzles: he reconciles differences and contradictions by sleight-of-hand, devising third alternatives, just as Sherlock Holmes (whose creator Conan Doyle, was a Gemini) deftly overcame the difficulties of his profession and arrived at solutions which no one else had considered.  A Gemini is often drawn toward lofty intel-lectualism, like Sartre, weighing the problem of freedom and responsibility.

A Fluttering Heart

Curious and perceptive, a Gemini tests and samples life, and then goes onward.  He is aware of love, but he does not become dominated by passions which would restrict his freedom.  Although one may believe that he has departed, the Gemini has a knack for appearing at the opportune moment.  When someone else seeks to share love with him, he offers friendship, but, when friendship is the other person's aim, he may suddenly play the lyre of love.  How can one be sure?  Before the other person realizes it, a Gemini may already seem to be drawn in another direction.  A Gemini does not poke fun, but, with an overly strong awareness of the liberty of others and himself, he perceives life as a series of experiences which must be enjoyed at the proper time, without being perpetuated in behalf of illusory certainties.  A Gemini is a frien ' d who knows how to become a lover, and he is also a troubadour, but one must know how to proceed care-fully in his presence.

The Gemini ideogram is represented by the Roman numeral "II".  It expresses duality, or bipolarity between the unconscious and conscious, masculinity and feminity and be-tween subject and object.  It also represents interchanges between two entities, generating movement and expressing activity: it promotes creativity.
