Ambivalence
A Virgo feels torn between good and evil, and these two forces pull in opposite directions: a Virgo is perceived as being ambivalent. Greta Garbo, who sometimes played malevolent characters despite her virginal appearance, was able to express this duality. A Virgo is a responsible and efficient person who methodically overcomes difficulties in performing tasks. For example, groups whom France could not assimilate, Richelieu "eliminated," such as the Protestants, in order to ensure absolute roonarchy in France. Another example is Colbert, who expressed a Virgo's talents for work and coordination.

With an exceptionally strong sense of proportion, he sought to render Louis XIV aware of the senselessness of certain expenses: "I wish to inform His Highness that an unnecessary meal costing a thousand crowns causes me incredible grief."'
A Methodical Mind Which Always Seeks Evidence
As can be easily imagined, or, indeed, deduced, many scientists or persons who seek to investigate beyond outward appearances are born under Virgo. After determining the order which governs a given category, a Virgo scientist methodically classifies its components in order to render them logically comprehensible: thus, there is Lavoisier, the father of modern chemistry, who provided its system of nomenclature, or Cuvier, who developed a logical way of classifying animals.

Unsettled Love
What type of person can free a Virgo from the natural restlessness associated with this sign? Who can provide reassurance, or know how to display all of the sensitivity and tact which an introverted temperament does not dare to ask for? A Virgo is uninterested in superficial infatuation, and bonds are only established through sharing ideas: Love is seen as something which must be learned. A Virgo spends a great deal of time studying the person who may be destined to win his or her affection: "the heart of a Virgo" cannot be easily conquered. Furthermore, does a sense of transgression always remain if the veil of modesty is lifted? Not all Virgos are like Saint-Just, the harsh advocate of celibacy. Their ambivalent nature may suddenly awaken desires which are closely comparable to those attributed to Scorpio.
