November., The End of Autumn

The Sun is descending further below the horizon. The leaves have fallen.  The landscape does not clearly separate the sky and the earth. Quietness predominates.

In November, people prepare for the coldness of Winter. Autumn in Transition Autumn is ending, and Winter is approaching.  This is a period of transition. Sagittarius is a mutable sign. Spiritual Fire

A Sagittarius is both instinctive and logical.A Sagittarius is independent. He gains control of his own energies. He has vast ambitions and is adventuresome.

A Sagittarius views reality on a human scale and possesses great energy for communicating his perceptions. He.seeks to excel.

Sagittarians seek harmony, and reconciling aspirations with reality. They have a great capacity for awareness.

Sagittarians are contemplative, often philosophers.

A Sagittarian wants action and transformation. He seeks to change things

Fire, the element of intense energy, dynamism, and change, is the element associated with Sagittarius. It is specifically represented by the position of Sagittarius within the zodiacal cycle: among the triplicity of fire signs, the mutable fire of Sagittarius, where a person enthusiastically converts his feelings into action, is situated between the cardinal fire of Aries (the spark of life) and the fixed fire of Leo (the flame of the ego). These factors produce a passionate, cheerful, and active person.

The fire of Sagittarius is fire beneath the ashes: a red-hot ember which is not extinguished.

A blast of air can transform the ember into a flame

Zeus-Jupite

Sagittarius is governed by Zeus, or Jupiter.

I Zeus, or Jupiter, the ruler of Olympus, is the god of light, clear skies, and thunder. He dispenses good and evil, as well as administering the earth and the heavens. He governs the stars and everything on earth, appointing oracles and establishing laws.  With his thunderbolt, he makes justice prevail.

Although his father, Chronos (Saturn), devoured his offspring at birth, Zeus escaped the fate of his siblings, through the efforts of his mother, Rhea.  To save her son, Rhea gave Saturn a

' Sagittarians are motivated by a constantly keen awareness which is always being renewed by an inner fire, or by the intellect

This is an enthusiastic person who may sometimes go to extremes.

A Sagittarian seeks truth everywhere.  He seeks to attain equilibrium, orderly progress, and abundance.  He upholds hierarchies and possesses a sense of order.

With a sense of good fortune, a Sagittarian feels protected against adversities. He seeks to uphold fairness: he is confident and optimistic.

stone wrapped in swaddling clothes, and, believing that this was his son, he devoured the stone.

Zeus was entrusted to the nymphs, who fed him milk and honey.

When he became an adult, Zeus decided to usurp Chronos'power, but he sought the advice of Methys (Prudence) beforehand.  She gave Zeus a drug which he used to make Chronos disgorge all of his children (his suppressed desires) whom he had swallowed.

I After a long battle, known as the Battle of the Titans, Zeus, with the help of the Cyclops (the forces of instinct and passion) whom he had freed from Tartarus, defeated Chronos and the Titans (ambition and the thirst for power).  Then he expelled them from the heavens.

I The giants were displeased, and, with the intention of avenging the Titans, they attacked Zeus.  This struggle was known as the Battle of the Giants

To win this battle, Zeus had to seek the aid of a mortal, Hercules.

The most difficult struggle was against Typhon, "the scourge of mortals," a partially human and partially animal creature. This monster symbolized the power of instincts at odds with wisdom.

Zeus had many amorous conquests.  Among them, it is possible to cite Themis, the goddess of laws. Their children were the "Hours": Discipline, Justice, and Peace, which ensure the survival of society, along with the Moirae, or the Fates, who represent destiny.

As the guardian of thunder, Zeus punished other gods or mortals who did not fulfill their duties.

The Hips and the Thighs

I The parts of the body corresponding to Sagittarius are the hips and the thighs, which permit movement and facilitate access and contact.

I Together with the legs, the hips permit a person to run.

Sagittarians like to develop their personalities in contact with pure ideas and gentle sentiments. They are not capable of bitterness.

A Sagittarian knows that he possesses a certain charm, but he uses it wisely to obtain favors. In winning power, his aim is to use it for enabling others to pursue their own wishes. A Sagittarian seeks to reconcile order and liberty.

He does not seek to gain power to satisfy his own ambitions (expulsion of the Titans). Instead, his efforts represent sublimation of instincts. A Sagittarian seeks greater justice and does not make concessions to mediocrity. A Sagittarian has a very favorable image of humanit

A Sagittarian's intentions may outdistance his capabilities.

In fact, ideals alone do not suffice: accomplishments are attained by an individual as a whole.  A Sagittarian tends to unify his different tendencies: his purposes are both earthly and spiritual.

Nevertheless, it is difficult to overcome instincts (Typhon).  Under the pressure of immediate needs, a Sagittarian may forget his aspirations for wisdom and become impatient.

A Sagittarian seeks order and discipline for maintaining social structures.  Nevertheless, a monopoly on authority may make him a prisoner of his duties.  Then he becomes a slave of himself through the destiny which he has pursued (the Fates)

With knightly ideals, a Sagittarian takes action against all forms of injustice.

A Sagittarian is interested in social

  • values: he seeks to be helpful to others.
  • Sagittarians are also associated with an active temperament. They are full of vim and vigor.

These sources provide the zodiacal formula for Sagittarius: an autumnal, mutable, fiery, and Jovian temperament, associated with the hips and the thighs.  These symbolic tendencies may emerge in the following manner:
