The Head

The head is the part of the body associated with Aries.  An Aries often walks with his head held high and with an intent expression. An Aries prizes zealousness and strength.  The urge to excel dominates him.

These sources provide the zodiacal formula for Aries: a vernal and cardinal sign, associated with fire and Mars.  Aries is represented by the head.

Even though it is known that the position of the Sun in a person's horoscope does not offer a complete psychological portrait, but does, suggest symbols associated with his goals and his way of pursuing them, attainment of these goals requires the aid of other planets or psychic forces.

The zodiacal formula of the Sun coinciding with Aries allows us to understand one of the principal behavioral attributes: exteriorization of the personality, which, in associa-tion with other elements of the horoscope, is manifested in a more or less recognizable form.

The zodiacal formula, corroborated by examples, can be expressed as follows:The Temperament of a Pioneer or a Leader In search of adventures, an Aries "locks horns" with life.  Obstacles do not deter him, and he zealously rushes into conflicts.  Most of Napoleon's generals were born under this sign, as were Bismarck, Thiers, and Gambetta.

An Aries stubbornly and sometimes vehemently confronts his adversaries.  We can think of Gambetta's campaign against clericalism, or Khrushchev's fist upon the podium at important international summits.  An Aries sees himself as a trailblazer, and he seeks to lead others.  People are "with him or against him," and he does not accept compromises: it is possible to consider Lenin or Napoleon III during their coups d'etat.

An Intuitive and Creative Spirit

An Aries possesses an audacious spirit which fosters innovation and renewal; he seeks to uplift the minds of others.  For example, the celestial chart for Einstein, whose sign was Pisces, shows many planets (Mercury, Saturn, Venus) occupying the house of Aries.  Einstein expressed many of Aries' characteristics by rejecting indeterminism and con-ventionally accepted laws, in order to discover relativity.

An Aries vigorously defends his beliefs: for example, there is Maurras, combatting the Third Republic and the entire philosophical outlook of the eighteenth century with a vehement logic which led to many conflicts.  An Aries possesses creative drives which are also destructive.  Thus, he may be the forerunner of new genres: for example, there is the originality of Chaplin's talents in satirizing society. The way in which an Aries thinks can be compared to the sharp edge of a knife.

A Heart Struck by a Thunderbolt

An Aries is a passionate soul who falls in love spontaneously, and zealously pursues the target of his affections.  Casanova does not fully express an Aries' type of love, but he does illustrate its passionate qualities.  An Aries seeks love which can constantly renew his passions.  For Saint Theresa of Avila, God represented this absolute form of love.

The Aries ideogram embodies the archetype: it is a gamma sign, representing the intersec-tion of the ecliptic and the equator, which is the destination for the ascent of the Sun during the Spring.  The Aries hieroglyph is also a stylized representation of the earliest sprouts as they break through the ground.  Moreover, it can be compared with the "V" for victory.
